Cherokee 0.6.0 relased

The cherokee team just relased version 0.6.0, as higlights:

• Web based admin interface (cherokee-admin, USE=admin)
• 20% 25% faster
• Load balancing
• Recover mechanism
• More authentication modules
• New documentation system
• Theme support

The new ebuild is already in portage including cherokee-admin and cherokee-guardian. The configuration is totally different so you need to create a new one using cherokee-admin or use /usr/share/doc/cherokee-0.6.0/contrib/05to06.py to export your old config (doesn’t wokrs 100%).

GNAP in Google SoC (Road to GNAP^3)

Good news. GNAP have two students accepted in Google Summer of Code.

The idea is to create a Framwork for embedded systems using GNAP. Simple and easy as possible you will create a embedded system that fits your hardware. We have yet a lot of work, so if you can help you are welcome.

ToDo GNAP^3:

• Crossdev support (SoC)
• Cisco like CLI (SoC)
• Live upgrade firmware
• SquashFS packages (miniPMS)
• RedHat kernel 2.6.18 (it is sweet stable)
• UnionFS support
• Premade profiles for several archs

Our students are Stoile (Philipp) and Alster (Alexandros) and at moment three mentors: Jaervosz, Eroyf and Me.

Microsoft vs OpenDocument (ISO 29500)

The XML MS format for documents can be soon approved as ISO 29500. MS don’t want to lost the opportunity of own the worldwide “open”  standard document.

Gentoo Talk

I’m prodly to present a Gentoo Talk in “Jornadas Badopi” in Barcelona this weekend :) so everybody is invited. Is mi fisrt conference in almost one year :P

New localepurge option, cherokee version and.. Gentoopalooza!

A new pretend mode and regex support is now in localepurge-0.5.2 using this patch so enjoy :). I upload also the new version of cherokee to portage. See changeLog for version 0.5.4 here.

In other hand we are trying to have anice devs & users meeting in Seville, so stay tuned, some european devs and USA devs will come to have talks and enjoy :)

Haciendo el Indio

So long time without post :)

I was busy with a lot of job related with nagios, i will try to post a few tips about nagios soon.

In other hand i was busy taking care of my self :)
I was in the Xerez GP, was a great race, Duccatti (my favourite brand) won so the spanish pilot Pedrosa was second in him first GP, in the other categories (125 & 250) the spanish team was the best.

I was trying too WakeBoard in the best school of Europe.. yes it is in Seville :P was funny so i drinked too much river water, i need a lot of practice :P

Then i was to Sierra Nevada to enjoy the final days of snow here, was funny i really needed it … So my body need to rest a lil, i must have something broke.

So what about Linux?

i’m involved in a pair of interesting new projects, more news soon.

And the best version ever of Cherokee is now in portage, the version 0.50 with support for fcgi and scgi. Try it, is really fantastic.

So finally, maybe some of you remember the photos of my latest birthday in amsterdam :) well… i will return this year too with more firends :P i will stay there 20-23 of april, if any one want to take a beer just mail me soon.
