Mini HowTo: Logitech Webcam + ekiga + amsn + gizmo + voipbuster

Some days ago i installed ekiga and now i start it all days :)
This is a lil howto use Ekiga to talk with people using other networks like Gizmo and VoIpBuster and of course the ekiga network .

First of course you need to isntall Ekiga :

# emerge ekiga

And install the driver for your cam, my cam is a logitech so first you need a kernel with v4l (video for linux) enable and:

# emerge media-video/usb-pwc-re

Now when you plug your webcam you will see how the cam is assigend to /dev/video0. In ekiga you need to select the V4L or V4L2 driver to use it. It will work w/o problems in amsn too.

So how to talk with other networs? is easy just add new accounts:

* Gizmo:
Acc. Name: Gizmo
Register: proxy01.sipphone.com:5060
User: 123456789 (your SIP number assigned to your gizmo user)
Pass: yourpass

Auth. User: 123456789 (your SIP number again)
Reign/Domain: proxy01.sipphone.com
Time: 3600

Now to call any Gizmo user just use:

SipNumberOfYourFriend@proxy01.sipphone.com:5060

* Voipbuster:
Acc. Name: Voipbuster
Register: sip1.voipbuster.com
User: YourVoipbusterUser
Pass: yourpass Auth. User: YourVoipBusterAgain
Reign/Domain: voipbuster.com
Time: 3600

Now to call any Phone just use:

InternationalPhoneNumber@sip1.voipbuster.com

    mmm strange…
    the webcam support in amsn is not so good, usually i need to remove ~/.amsn and restart amsn. Doing this you remove all amsn config files!!!! so it works for me. I only use amsn when i need use the webcam in msn.
    So ekiga dont modify any amsn file.

    Maybe you try to use the webcam in amsn meanwhile ekiga hav it open?

    regards

    Why do you need the 5060 port?

    Thanks! It’s working, a little uncomfortable to have to add @sip1.voipbuster.com to every call, but it’s ok.
